Hello everyone,
here is a little "How To" to show you how to swap your backup light bulbs that are horrible halogen 3156 bulbs. You can also help yourself with this post http://club4g.org/board/show-tech/870-how-tail-light-removal-tint.html .
Tools needed
Ratchet
10mm Socket
Flathead screwdriver
Your new 3156/3157(3156 is single filament and 3157 is double filament so 3157 can replace your 3156). You can also use 7440 or 7443 bulbs since the base is the same.
1rst,
remove the plastic trim between your tail lights. Push the little buttons in the middle to unlock them and remove the trim.
2nd,
remove the 10mm bold using your ratched and the plastic clip that hold the side of the tail light.
3rd,
Now to remove the light assembly you just need to pull it straight. Be careful not breaking anything while doing this.
4th,
Now twist the bigger socket to expose your backup light. Replace with your new LED bulb.
5th,
TEST. You should always test your installation before putting all parts back when you add LED bulbs to your car since they don't have positive/negative side written on it. To test your backup lights(Manual transmission) just put your shifter on R and put your key to ON(not start, not accessory, ON) and now you can see if it works(if it doesn't light up just turn your bulb).
Now that your are done putting everything back in place you can see how ugly halogen bulbs are.
