Ok so I figure I've had the car for a month now I might as well throw up a right thread. Traded in my 07 GS with 73k on it for $6k and talked the wrx down to $21,799. Unfortunately my RRE pulley, DC CAI, MagnaFlo Cat-back and RRE headers all went with the car. (too cold for me to unhook everything) Overall I have no regrets and am very pleased with my purchase.

Car came with an Injen CAI so that was $300ish saved. It has 30% on the front windows and I believe 15 or 20% on the rear windows. The first purchase after buying the car was weather-tech mats. They are amazing they cover the entire floor so it keeps the carpet looking new. I just bought myself a Yakima roof rack, I snowboard in the winter and in the next few weeks I'll be buying a kayak so I am all set for the seasons. As of right now I have no plans of lowering my car as I work at a ski resort and there are pot holes everywhere.

I heard the ecu on the wrx is easier to tune than the sti . Not sure if it's true though
Yea I don't know about that. I mean I'd imagine they would make both fairly easy to tune since that is a huge draw for them. But yea the Cobb Accessport v3 is deff in my future. It's ridiculous how much easier it is to tune that the fricken Eclipse.

Alls I know for subies by reading up is that every mod you put in the engine it needs a tune, even just an intake because they run super lean factory.

yea I plan on getting the accessport v3 before I add anything else. The hatch grew on me cause I absolutely used to hate it but I still like the look of a sedan better. I did really like the eclipse's hatch other than the shocks, if those things get cold you'd whack your head every time.

Awesome upgrade man, you can never go wrong with a wrb wrx.

Ya you definitely need a tune for an intake. The bad thing about the Injen intake is that COBB doesn't make an OTS tune for it. But who knows, it could have been tuned via OpenSource.

I do love the wrx sedans, they are very sexy. 2011 is the best year because they still have the black headlights and have the new front bumper.

COBB does have tunes for the COBB intake as well as the AEM intake, but no others last I checked. You can verify it on their site when you look at the maps section.

Edit: Some vendors, like Perrin, make their own maps that will work with their intake. But I have no experience with those

Yea I agree. Where do you buy your parts? I was thinking I may just continue to go through autocity still.
Damn Subis! Congrats, beautiful car!
I'm so jealous of your Evo haha that's the exact color and everything I wanted but I couldn't turn down the deal for my car

I bought the intake from Cobb because I wanted their license plate frames as well but I still order all my other parts from autocity just because I have to give them respect for helping out the aftermarket support for the eclipse, since it was my baby.

Yeah do it! I'll probably order my exhaust through them. I wonder if Jason would be able to give us VIP pricing on subaru stuff. I'll probably PM him soon when I'm ready to buy my accessport v3

So I took off the Injen intake until I have enough saved up to get the AP v3. I also went out yesterday and bought myself a kayak!

Hopefully getting some hella horns soon. I'm thinking about going lime green for those. I'd also want to paint my calipers lime green but I haven't decided on that yet.

So got the big power hound roof rack with locks from amazon for $135 plus tax. It will be able to hold 4 snowboards, I was gonna wait on ordering it but normally it's a lot more than that so I jumped on the price. I also bought a set of hella super tone horns with bracket and wiring harness. I have those at a shop getting powdercoated lime green so I should have those back tomorrow.

Thanks man, yea thats the only down side to her, let me know how you like
The ap i plan to go that same route. You plan to run cobbs stages or dyno tune?

#44 ·
So I just intalled my Cobb SF intake and tuned for stage 1. The sound of the suction is awesome and you get a BOV like sound at higher RPMs. Hopefully by the end of July I will be able to get a downpipe and go stage 2!

#45 ·
with the intake installed can you hear your turbo spool up? i know with a down pipe it makes a huge difference on hearing it whistle but some people also said having an intake will make it spool louder as well. And did you notice a difference in exhaust pitch with the intake?

#47 ·
Yea like Chris said you can hear the spool up of the turbo, no whether that is the turbine spining or just the sound of the suction i don't know but you can hear it whine. And you absolutely get that bov sound not sure if that is legit what it is since our cars have to recirculating bov but you hear the "pshh" sound haha. As far as the exhaust sound I've deff noticed a little more grumble but it doesn't sound like it's coming from behind the car, possibly from the stage 1 boost?
